Step 1
In a bowl, mix black sesame paste, sweetener, and oil until thick and smooth.Place in the fridge for 15–20 minutes to firm up. Place tofu in a bowl and mash until smooth.
Step 2
Add sugar, then gradually mix in glutinous rice flour. Knead gently until a soft, smooth, non-sticky dough forms. If too wet, add a little more flour; if too dry, add a teaspoon of tofu or water.
Step 3
Divide dough into small pieces. Flatten each piece into a disc, place a sesame ball in the centre, then gently wrap and roll into smooth balls
Step 4
Bring a pot of water to a gentle boil. Add tang yuan and stir gently so they don’t stick. When they float, cook for 1–2 more minutes, then remove. Serve in hot ginger syrup and enjoy!
